YAMAHA 250HP V6
Loaded decks and turnaround times that don’t move — that is the working brief the Yamaha 250HP V6 answers, with 183.8 kW of maximum propeller shaft output, digital electronic control at the helm and Helm Master® EX compatibility for operations that need more than throttle and shift.
250HP V6
Makes heavy lifting look like light work
Weight is the real test, and it is the one this engine is built around. Full passenger loads, packed decks, a hull sitting deep by mid-morning: 183.8 kW through a 2.00 (26/13) gear ratio is what stops any of it setting the schedule back. Ask for everything and it goes — no hesitation at the throttle, no second attempt, and no allowance to make for the last run of the day being slower than the first.
Output only counts while it stays controllable. Digital electronic control holds throttle and shift response accurate hour after hour, optional digital electric steering does away with pumps, hoses and mess in the bilge for cleaner and more predictable helm feel, and 32 degrees of steering each direction keeps a laden hull pointing exactly where it is put. Rig the 250 with Helm Master® EX and that scales all the way to joystick manoeuvring — docking in a crosswind, holding position alongside, threading through a crowded basin, all of it repeatable rather than lucky.

SERENITY
Less time off the water
A commercial engine is judged on the days it does not cost you. Robust internal components and efficient fuel delivery help extend service intervals, straightforward diagnostics keep faultfinding short, and a 70 A alternator — 55 A of it dedicated to battery charging — carries essential electronics and onboard systems even at lower engine speeds. Working the 250HP V6 hard does not change the routine: the same servicing, the same proven Yamaha reliability, the same engine ready for the next shift.
DESIGN
ENGINE
The hardware is 4169 cc of 4-stroke DOHC V6, 24 valves and a 10.3:1 compression ratio, with variable camshaft timing adjusting on the move to build torque low and mid-range, where a deep-loaded hull actually uses it. At 267 – 274 kg dry it is lighter than the previous-generation models it replaces — which is why 183.8 kW rigs across a wide range of working hulls instead of a short list of them.
